Tip of the Day

Use more art and less mirrors

I think that a lot of us fall into a rut when picking the decor for our homes. We don't know what color will go best with what furniture and so the easy answer. . . a mirror. So often we walk into homes and see the walls covered in mirrors and the walls are barren of art. An occasional mirror can be a powerful piece, making a room feel larger or accenting a color or creating a feeling, but too much of a good thing can easily go wrong. Our suggestion. . . fill more of your walls with art and use mirrors sparingly. Art adds so much to a room and can bring in so much color and energy to a neutral room.

  1. I loved the homes you decorated in the Parade of Homes. My favorite was the Smithfield home, my husband who doesn't pay attention to that kind of stuff even enjoyed it. I got your card from the builder and found your site. Keep posting, I love your style.

  2. I went to the Parade of Homes and was so impressed by your talent. My husband and I are interested in purchasing the North Logan home. Unfortunately my camera broke and was hoping you could post some pictures of this home on your site or even send them to my email. I'm in Bountiful so it's hard to get up there with a child. Thanks again.

  3. Yes art! Mirrors are nice (because I love looking at how awesome I look), but there's only one word that describes a great piece of art, "whoa!"

Do you mind if I pimp your blog to folks in the SLC area? I'm going to let them know how beautiful the Cache Valley is. My wife and I were there for the car show last weekend.

I also found a great artist in NYC who does some wonderful art. Quite expensive, but the art is worth it. Please keep the blog going because the people of Utah need more education on design and decorating.
